LEADERSHIP: 10 Things to do to improve on your leadership when no one believes in you.
1. First thing to check is if you believe in the vision you are promoting. Vision is a powerful contagious spiritual force that draws people. Like good music, beauty or even the aroma of good food, people cannot resist it. People will easily connect if you radiate the aura of your visions.
2. ‘Walkie-talkie’-At some point what you do is more powerful than what you say. Charisma would rather compliment character than replace it. Walk the talk. An exemplar.
3. Persistence and consistency- people sometimes wants to see if you can last the distance. People flop and whimper when their heart has no substance of vision and they soon drop out. Keep at it. Consistency is a powerful message of its own.
4. Do not be too nice; To try to woo people to believe in your cause rather than being a strength is a weakness. A strong vison attracts people of worth. When people follow you out of sympathy they will drop out of sight when the cajoling stops.
5. Increase your personal capacity and improve yourself; dynamism appeals to every faculty of man. People easily get bored with sameness. Read, explore, and interact with other sources of knowledge especially people who know more than you do in your chosen calling.
6. Learn to communicate better: People will never follow what they do not understand. Asses your technique if it is connecting mentally, spiritually, and practically with the needs of the people.
7. Stay positive and enthusiastic about your vision: Grumpy leaders beget cold-feet followers. People will follow someone whose words and attitude can change their gloomy perspectives and brighten their hopes.
8. Stay real: discerning people will know when you are working things out just to impress. Share your success and failure experiences alike. Not everyone will be drawn to you, those who may, will.
9. Take a break to revaluate your visions and possibly find better, creative ways to communicate them.
10. Be bold, be bold, be bold. Genuinely bold. Boldness that draws from the inner stream and solid visions. The inner light of a bold person will not flicker even in adverse situations
