JOSEPH-Triumph of Character.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.…(Matthew 5:13-14)
Joseph’s depiction as a model bible character was for a solid reason. He was a man of solid and impeccable character.
Joseph, prior to his being sold to Potiphar’s house, was already a star in the making.
He had things worthy envying; the fathers’ favourite son, a coat of many colours, and God had graciously lined up his destiny with a colourful dream. The dreams he dreamt were no ordinary dreams.
His dreams were God’s evidence, and spiritual handwriting that attested to his great and eminent destiny. (Genesis 37) Enough of good things going for him. Joseph did not ignore the one thing that would later make him Gods ambassador and favourite all-time bible character. He made Integrity the corner stone of his life (Genesis 39).
How sin and compromise rob and deny us our rightful and ordained place in destiny (Jeremiah 25:1, Galatian 6:9)
love for God like josephs ‘had, we are encouraged to hold on to the compelling inward witness and motivation for standing upright even when we are being forced to take a sit under the weight and intimidating power of circumstances.
In spite of his many afflictions and unpleasant things that happened to him Apostle Paul stayed strong to his desire to please God in all things: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed”( 2cor 4:7-9).
Joseph’s life and conduct in Potiphar’s house wasn’t just a mere religious exercise; it was evidence of the depth of his character, a cultivated relationship with God, a reverential devotion to God’s word and His laws, even when no man was in view( Genesis 39:9)
Joseph’s life was one of triumph not just for his personal advancement in the face of accusation and wrongful persecution, but one that reckons God as a rewader of them that diligently seek him( Hebrews 11:6)
Joseph was manifestly promoted to a rank that mere personal strength and abilities couldn’t have.
Character will always keep us in track of Gods wonderful plans.
